“At Saint Patrick Parish, we support one another and are emboldened by the Holy Spirit to carry on the redeeming work of our Lord and Savior.” – Excerpt from Saint Patrick Parish vision statement.
This weekend our Easter season concludes with the Solemnity of Pentecost. The Paschal candle which was blessed and lit and stood in the sanctuary since the beginning of the Easter Vigil will be extinguished and will return to its place near our baptismal font. Though the flame from that candle will no longer burn at our Sunday liturgies, it is perhaps a fitting reminder that the light of Christ is now meant to be taken beyond the walls of our Church. May the power of the Holy Spirit present in us through baptism, confirmation, and our daily pursuit of holiness continue to lead us on our mission of winning the whole world for Jesus Christ.
As we look to June, we are excited here for the many days of Spirit-filled prayer and celebrations which lie ahead. There are many opportunities for us to deepen our relationship with God and with the Church. Here are a few highlights.
June 6th and 7th: Corpus Christi Weekend
For the fifth consecutive year, we are planning a Eucharistic procession following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Following the procession, the Knights of Columbus Council 1762 will host a parish picnic that will take place outside in the lower level parking lot.
June 10th: Celebration of the Dedication of the Church
Our current church building was dedicated on June 9th, 1991. We will celebrate this anniversary together with a special Mass and celebration downstairs in the social hall. Join us in celebrating the many blessings of the last 35 years at 1500 Vine Street.
June 13th and 14th: Fr. Patrick Sorrells Masses of Thanksgiving
Following his ordination to the priesthood on June 6th, newly-ordained Fr. Patrick Sorrells will join us to celebrate the weekend Masses. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate his vocation, receive his first priestly blessing, and send him forth to serve in the Diocese of Fargo.
June 20th and 21st: Fr. Dan Tracy’s Final Weekend of Masses
Before I depart for my new assignment in Rice Lake, I will be presiding and preaching for the final time at the weekend Masses. I look forward to sharing these days of gratitude and prayer with you all.
June 27th and 28th: Friends Joining from Our Sister Parish
We are thrilled to welcome the Bishop of the Diocese of Verapaz, Guatemala, Rodolfo Núñez, as the celebrant for the two Sunday morning Masses. Sr. Joannes Klas (Sister Jo) will be present for the entire weekend as well to celebrate the important partnership we have with San Jose el Tesoro.
As the Holy Spirit prompts you, please consider inviting someone in your life to one of these celebrations. These will be great opportunities to showcase the abundant life that is continuing to grow here in our parish community. Come Holy Spirit…
Gracias a Dios.
