DRESS CODE - UNIFORM POLICY

                                                                            

St. Patrick School recognizes that a positive climate conducive to teaching and learning is essential. Students are to abide by the uniform policy in an effort to emphasize standards of neatness in grooming, uniformity in our school’s image and pride in our school.


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS

All students are required to have hair of natural color.

All clothing must be neat and clean. No baggy, tattered, or torn clothing. Pant legs cannot drag on floor. No non-school logos on clothing.

Pants and shorts are all navy blue twill or corduroy, pleated or plain front, regular or elastic waist, straight leg. No outside pant pockets. If belts are needed, they must be either navy or black. Shirts are collared polo, turtleneck or mock turtleneck, Oxford shirt, short or long sleeve. Girls can have Peter Pan or pointed collars. Colors are white, light yellow, or hunter green. Shirts and blouses are to be tucked in at all times.

Socks must be worn at all times – colors: navy blue or solid white. Girls may wear same colored tights and knee highs. Shoes must be neat, clean, and have a sole and back (no clogs or slides). Tennis shoes are required for Phy Ed Class.

Sweater must be a navy blue, button-down cardigan. Sweatshirt can be navy blue, hunter green, birch gray with logo, ordered through school. Uniform shirt must be worn under sweatshirt.

Girls’ dress/jumper, skirts, and skorts must be Uniform Plaid, #80. Ankle length navy leggings or navy bike shorts may be worn under the jumper, but no stirrups. ALL GRADERS - Jumpers and skirts should be no more than two inches above the knee.

Skirt: Uniform Navy blue, Knife pleat #349 Ankle length navy leggings or navy bike shorts may be worn under the skirt. No stirrups.)

Shirt: Oxford, pointed collar.

Hair Accessories must be same as uniform colors. No accessories should be attached to belts or uniforms. Excessive make-up is not acceptable.

Belts must be a simple black, dark blue, or brown.  Accessories, decorations, or embellishments on belts are prohibited.

Uniform Shorts may be worn from the start of school to October 15 and from April 15 to school year’s end.

Non-Uniform Days (Spirit Days) are in effect once a month. Consult the family folder for these days.

Scouting Uniforms may be worn the day of Scout meetings.

Sports Uniforms--Basketball shirts may be worn the first day of home tournaments. Baseball, softball, and volleyball shirts may be worn the day of the FIRST home game.

Judgment of appropriateness in all uniforms is made by the principal.



SPECIFIC CLASS REQUIREMENTS

MIDDLE SCHOOL: GRADES 6 – 8
Same as Boys and Girls K-5 with additional choices:

Denim Jeans: Traditional STRAIGHT leg, undecorated blue jeans...also called classic, five-pocket jeans (two pockets in front with a small watch pocket and two regular size pockets in back.), regular fit or relaxed fit only. There will be some flexibility with respect to the size of jean pockets but huge pockets (determined by the principal) are forbidden. Any kind of loops, back-tab buckles, bell-bottom legs, baggy or wide legs, colored side stripes, inserts at the sides or any other trendy decorations are also forbidden. Side pockets, Cargo pants, and hip-huggers are NOT allowed.

Additional options for Middle School girls:

Split skirt: plaid #80, style 4080

Skirt: Uniform Plaid #80 or uniform navy blue, knife pleat #349



     Parental cooperation is necessary to maintain a uniform dress code. It is the parents’ responsibility to assure the uniform regulations are followed so class time is not taken for teachers and principal to remind and enforce adherence to the dress code.

All other clothing may be purchased elsewhere but must be the same style, color, and type of clothing as listed in the uniform guidelines. Sweatshirts are purchased through school.
