YOUTH SACRAMENTS

FIRST RECONCILIATION & EUCHARIST:The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist are usually celebrated in the second grade. The preparation for these sacraments begins in the fall of the student's second grade year with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The sacrament of Reconciliation is usually celebrated during the period of ordinary time afte the Christmas Season. First Eucharist preparation follows Reconciliation. First Eucharist is celebrated during the Easter season - usually the first part of May.The preparation for First Reconciliation and Eucharist is done in a home setting by the parents or guardians of the young person. Family meetings are held at the church in advance of the celebration of each sacrament to assist the family in their role of sacramental preparation. CONFIRMATION:Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation for young people begins in the Junior year of High School. The process of preparation is a part of formation ministries at St. Patrick Parish. Young people grow through participation in the Christian life as a part of their formation experience throughout high school befiore beginning prepatory catechesis in the Junior year.. The celebration of Confirmation truly is then an outward sign of the grace of God already active in their lives. Confirmation is celebrated at a time and date selected by the Diocesan Bishop and may be celebrated in the Junor or Senior year of high school based on the readiness of the individual candidate..SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION FOR NEW STUDENTS:Any student who is in 2nd Grade or older and is just entering Religious Formation Process for the first time will be enrolled in an age appropriate Faith Basics Class that seeks to develop the fundamentals of the Catholic faith during their first year of formation. During their second year of formation they will attend classes with their peers and prepare for their sacramental experiences that will be celebrated at selected times during the late winter or spring of their second year.
