Curriculum: The curriculum for Prekindergarten class is based on weekly themes. These themes are supported by the learning centers around the classroom. Some of the weekly themes may include, but are not limited to the following: families, seasons, land formations, oceans, deserts, animals, poetry, disabilities, history and symbols of the United States, cultures of the world, children's literature, book making and many others.
The main objectives of the themes is to expose children to many different areas of study. The learning centers help to introduce and learn about the themes. The children use a hands-on approach to learning in each center. The centers also expose the children to all the subjects of study. Such as Religion, Social Skills, Math, Science, History, Language Skills, Reading Readiness Skills, Small Motor, Cognitive Skills, Large Motor and many other areas.
Since children learn in different ways and at different rates the program must provide a wide range of learning opportunities and experiences. The emphasis is on the total development of the individual child. Each child is unique and this must be recognized.
