Committee Meeting Minutes – March 20, 2007

Opening Prayer led by Mary Piasecki relating to the Feast of
Saint Joseph from the Gospel of Matthew
Review/Action of
February: February minutes were approved; no changes made.
Students & Staff
Uniform Survey – The
committee discussed who will be targeted and what type of questions should be
included. Carol read possible survey
questions and the committee offered their suggestions. Carol & Kiki will refine the questions and
email to committee members for finalization.
The survey will then be distributed to families for completion. Dependent on the response, further study will
be implemented.
All-Day Kindergarten
- tabled until next meeting. Further
research is needed.
Wellness Policy –
The committee discussed the Athletic Committee’s overall positive response to
the policy. Sere’ Leber asked for
clarification to ensure that the policy contain wording about classroom
functions including healthy food choices.
The Wellness Policy will be placed prior to finalization and adoption on
RenWeb for families to email comments and suggestions.
Bereavement Protocol
– Sere’ Leber presented the idea of a bereavement liaison for families facing
tragedy to help discern their wishes and organize school help. Kiki suggested a resource person to help find
resources for grieving families and for those who want to help.
The committee discussed the possibility of hiring a
part-time counselor and recommended the Finance Committee build into the budget
the hiring of a counselor.
Claire Zajac also recommended that the teacher salaries
continue to strive to 85% and not drop below 80% of the public school’s salary
package. The committee concurred with
her proposal. The committee further recommended that Mary Piasecki’s salary be reviewed
and increased to the 85% of public school salary.
Catholic School Week – Sere’ asked the committee their
opinion on the possibility of changing the format of Catholic School Week. It was agreed that in December a note will
be sent out to families requesting volunteers to assist in planning Catholic
School Week.
Health & Safety Environment
Safety – Camera
have been installed. Safety practices
continue. The back fence with the gap
will be replaced with a gate.
Walky-talkies are still being researched, with questions on poor
reception quality. A safety review on
building safety was done with positive results.
The committee discussed safety issues regarding parking in the lot
during school hours and parking along the street.
Faith Community
Family Skills
Workshop - Claire handed out fliers to be posted throughout the community
and a progress update was given. Kiki mentioned her presentation with Cheryl
Kirkwood will also be given at the River Falls Library.
Stewardship – tabled until next meeting.
Meeting Adjourned.
Next Meeting - April 17th, 6:30 p.m.. All meetings will take place in St. Patrick
School Conference Room.
