Library Rules: The library is a quiet area for reading and studying. Books may be checked out for two (2) weeks. You may not check out any new books if you already have overdue books. No saving of books. You are responsible for any damage done to or loss of any books checked out to you. Enjoy reading!
Library Programs: Each year we participate in the WEMA Golden Archer Award. Students are asked to vote for their favorite book from a student-selected group of five books. When voting is complete at St. Patrick’s our votes are sent in to the Golden Archer Award committee who compiles all of the votes from students around Wisconsin. There are three winning authors, one from each level, Primary, Intermediate & Middle school. After the winners are announced we start the nominating process for the books to be read the following school year. The students enjoy reading the books & voting for their favorites, hoping their favorite book will be the winner for all of Wisconsin.
St. Patrick School Library history. St. Patrick School library originally was a church library housed in the basement of the old St. Patrick church on St. Croix St. across from the school. In the late 1960's Ester Berlin a retired librarian living in the parish helped move the church library to the school. It's first home was the school room that is now our office. Mrs. Berlin was also instrumental in gaining Title II grants to start a proper school library. The library opened to students the fall of 1968. In 1973 the library space was needed as a classroom again & the Sisters of St. Agnes were no longer living upstairs in the convent. Under the helm of new librarian Florence Simon the library was moved upstairs into the convents' living room and kitchen area. During our renovation & addition of 2002 our library doubled its size and was moved to a more central location where it is located today. Again under Florence Simon's guidance in 2003 the library was automated and currently houses 8,716 volumes and growing. Mrs. Simon started as a volunteer in 1967. In 2004 at the time of her retirement at the age of 83 our library became the Florence Simon Library.
