Education Committee Member update by Mary Piasecki – 6 applications were sent out to potential members to be returned by June 30th. Father Parr will select 2 -3 people to join the committee.
Students & Staff
Uniform Survey – The committee looked at qualitative comments. Based on the response, no change will be taken on the current uniform code. Stress will be placed on compliance. Teachers requested adding a line stating that one of the reasons we have a uniform code is to show pride in ourselves and our school. The committee discussed specifics of the code, including:
• K-5th - need to have shoes that fit & can be fastened.
• Appropriate plain belts.
• Hair accessories should match uniform.
• 6th & 8th – change to add boot cut jeans//no pocket decorations off//jeans worn at the waist
• Shirts worn under polo shirts are acceptable but must be white or uniform color without writing.
• Hair – no shaved heads or mohawk. Bangs above eyes & above collar.
Mary Seyer will research where to find appropriate styles & give Mary Piasecki the appropriate “jean language”. Info will be given to parents to aide in purchasing acceptable attire. Students and parents will be asked to pay special attention to jeans color during important school functions such as Grandparents Day.
All-Day Kindergarten & Wellness policy – tabled until further notice
Packet night &Parent Nightwill be combined into one evening event on Wed., August 29th. Detailed information will be sent out to parents prior to that date.
Environment
Safety – Sere Leber spoke to the committee about her concern of the student’s safety during bus loading after school and requested a review of procedures and safety measures. A sub-committee will be formed to determine areas of improvement and possible changes to increase maximum safety.
Mentoring– The mentoring program for matching current families with new families coming into St. Patrick’s will continue for the Fall.
