Home and School Minutes
March 11, 2008, 6:30-8:15 p.m.
I. Call to Order and Opening Prayer by Kiki Gorbatenko-Roth
II. New Business
A. Home and School needs to fill the Vice President position for next year
III. Vice President Report
A. Gala preparations are well under way. Ticket sales are a little slow but expected to pick up closer to the event
B. Donut Sunday – donuts will not be served on Easter Sunday. The school will next host on Memorial weekend in May.
IV. Meet the Judge Candidates – Howard Cameron & Mark Gherty. Both candidates were given equal time to give their backgrounds and platforms. Questions were taken from the audience.
V. Parent Education – Dr. Young & Deb Perfect spoke on proper nutrition for children and the importance of parent education on nutrition, sleep and exercise. Questions were answered from the audience.
VI. Treasurer’s Report
A. St. Patrick School has paid $40,000 to the Parrish stipend with a remaining $25,000 still owed. The balance is currently $7, 750.
B. Kiki Gorbatenko-Roth raised the question of making another stipend payment at this time or waiting until April after Gala receipts have been paid. It was decided to wait until April.
VII. New Business
A. Kiki Gorbatenko-Roth reported the survey results from the online survey.
48 people responded to the survey with the majority supporting the proposed items for funding.
B. Votes were taken and passed on the following request for funding:
1. Teacher Appreciation Dinner for $550 - Claire Zajac first; seconded Becky Dostal
2. Graduation Dinner for $550 - Pennie Peterson first; seconded Angie Doffing
3. Summer Send-Off Party for $750 – Claire Zajac first; seconded by Kim Burns
C. Volunteerism Assessment Project
Compiled by Angie Doffing with the purpose of increasing awareness of number of hours, tasks and people required for each event.
