Executive Summary: Home & School Association Sept 11^th, 2007 Meeting

Next Meeting: November 13^th 6:30-8:00 Guest Speaker: Dr. Marjorie Law, Licensed Child Psychologist

I. Constitution & Bylaws

•  Last academic year revised changes to the H&S Constitution and Bylaws were drafted. They were posted on the school website and comment period opened. Comments were then gathered and incorporated. The final version was deemed to be implemented after close of the comment period (April/May 2007) and is the active Constitution and Bylaws under which the H&S operates. The final versions of these documents are to be posted on the web.
•  Additional changes to the May 2007 document were identified September 2007. Amendments reflecting these changes are to be posted on the web. Comments on these proposed changes will be taken prior to one week before the November H&S meeting.
•  During the November meeting, a vote on the amendments will be taken. All agreed upon changes will then be implemented and posted on the web, as the current bylaws.

II. On-line Voting

• Idea presented and tabled. Decision made to survey parents and teachers on H&S issues prior to making major change to H&S processes. Survey to be administered prior to November meeting.

III. Question & Answer: Parents are encouraged to submit questions they want discussed during the November meeting. Do so by emailing homeandschool@stpatrickeducenter.org

IV.  Community Building

• Church Angels: It was requested that children of the parish assist in straightening the church pews after immediately following weekend masses.
• Home & School Liaisons: Teachers to ask room parents if they would be willing to act as a liaison between the classroom specific parents and the H&S. Person to help with classroom related call trees and relaying of information.

v. Parent Education: Request made for parents to provide topics and speakers of interest for the parent educational portion of future meetings.

vii. Budget: ending balance on June 30, 2007 – reserved funds: $32, 120

• First installment of H&S church stipend of $65K to be made: $20K
• Additional funds allocated: $9350

• Busing: $2000
• Camp St. Croix (5^th Graders): $500
