| FINE ARTS
ARTArt is taught by a teacher who has a B.S. degree in K-12 Broad Area Art Education. The students meet once or twice week for 40 minutes for the entire year. In Middle School our projects are more in-depth and detailed so the students may only be working on and graded on two to three projects a quarter. Sixth Grade:Art in the sixth grade centers on Western Art History, starting with Egyptian art and proceeding through to Western Art History such as surrealism and Modern Art. Student will be using mediums ranging from paints to clay. In addition to hands-on art projects, they will also be tested on a few projects that will be factored into their grade. Seventh Grade
Art in seventh grade centers on projects and art from other cultures. A few examples students will be learning about will be Native American Basketry, Oaxaca (Mexican) Animal Sculptures, Celtic Crosses, and Japanese Marbleizing and book binding.
Eighth Grade
Art in the eighth grade centers on mediums, art careers, and personal-global social awareness. The eighth graders get to experience many different art mediums from silk screening to acrylic paints, and pen and ink. They will also reflect on social issues around the world and depict them in their art. They will also have an elective art career homework project, which will be due at the end of the first quarter.
