was determined that Sere’ Leber, Carol Skinner and Claire Zajac will complete
their terms in 2008. Jayne Cernohous’
and Lisa Dumont’s terms will run until 2009
Membership
recruitment – The committee will actively educate people as to the nature
of the Education Committee (an advisory council to the pastoral council &
Mary Piasecki). Committee members will
ask/encourage/recruit people (need 3 people) who will enhance the Education
Committee. Mary Piasecki will meet with
people who have expressed an interest in joining the committee. The Family Folder will have a brief information
sheet with instructions to call Jayne Cernohous if interested.
Officer succession
– Carol Skinner - Chair. Lisa Dumont - Vice
chair.
Students & Staff
Uniform survey – Kiki will compile results from the returned
surveys and send the data to the committee members. Mary queried the committee if the survey
should also be put on-line but it was decided that this may result in
duplicated responses. Further discussion will result once the survey data has
been reviewed.
Wellness policy – The committee discussed the best method
for introducing the policy and gathering feedback. The policy will be put online,
with selected portions designated for follow-up questioning and feedback.
All-Day Kindergarten – tabled until further notice. Members
considered who to target to gauge interest in an all-day kindergarten
program. Other questions include
logistical placement, busing issues and research findings.
Bereavement Protocol update – Mary has designated specific
funding in the budget for hiring a part-time school counselor. The budget has been sent to the finance
committee for approval. Mary expressed
concern in finding a qualified person willing to work part-time.
Environment
Mary updated the
members on what steps will be taken to improve safety in the school parking lot. It has been decided that a chain will be
placed at the entrances to the lot during school hours.
Faith Community
Although the first Family Skills Workshop had a
disappointing turn-out, it was agreed the workshop is worth repeating next year. Those involved in organizing the workshop
will be meeting at a later date to begin preliminary organization for next
year’s workshop.
Vacation Bible School – Mary received a communication from Ellen
Hanten asking for the Education Committee’s assistance in joint sponsorship of Vacation Bible School
with RFP Lisa Dumont volunteered to be
the liaison from Education Committee.

pursuant of the following Vision 2007 Goals:
