St. Patrick Education Committee Meeting – August 21,
2007

Review/Action of June
Minutes: Minutes approved; no action taken
New Committee Membership
– New members include Jen Mackley, Angie Doffing & Amy Matuga. Carol Skinner will serve as the 2007-2008
Chair. Lisa Dumont will serve as the Vice Chair. Jen Mackley will serve as the
recording secretary.
Student & Staff
School Theme – Mary showed the committee examples of school posters
with school-wide goals for the year. They
stress three main components: Be Respectful, Responsible, & Safe. They will be implemented throughout all grade
levels & curriculum.
Wellness Policy – fully effective. The committee discussed specifics within the
Wellness Policy including:
- Food
& Beverage should not be shared
- Possibility
of having fruit for snacks for sale during school hours
- Nutritional
snacks emphasized
- Snack
time based on individual classroom lunch times
- Remove
prohibitive reward section
Back-to-school-night – reviewed evening procedures. Committee will help during event.
School Counseling: Judie Wiebold will be given more time to
counsel students during the school day.
Safety
Parking Lot – Carol Skinner will contact Sere’ Leber
concerning an update on safety during bus loading time.
Chains will be used when the parking lot is in use by
students.
New Family Mentoring – Most new families have been matched
with an established family in their grade levels.
Stewardship
The Committee will review long-range goals of the Education
Committee, including what we would like our school to look like in 3 - 5
years? Mary will send out long-range goals
for assessment.
During the September meeting, the Committee will discuss
questions from Faith Formation (former RFP).

will look into a program in Somerset
that she feels may be beneficial for St. Patrick
Education Committee meeting times – 6-7:30 every 3rd
Tuesday of each month. Meetings will be
held in the school library or the upstairs conference room.
