Hi my name is Ruth Ashwood and I am one of our Fine Arts Specialists.  I share the responsibilities of classroom music with Cheryl Forester.  My Bachelor of Science Degree is in Music Education from the University of Minnesota with emphasis in Instrumental Music. 
     This year we join with Trinity School of Hudson for our Instrumental Program.  We offer Band instruments and String instruments giving small and large group instruction during the school day.
      Here at St. Pat's  I teach Classroom music Grades 5 - 6 for the full year  and 7 & 8th Music Second Semester.  We have a large emphasis on performance.  This includes singing for Grandparent's Day, all of our school together!  Our 5th and 6th Graders will do a very special Christmas presentation with costumes and dialogue.  This year we will perform:  Christmas Conversation:  Sharing the Gift 365. It features music from contemporary Christian artists  . Our 7th and 8th graders study Musical Theatre and each spring put on their own musical, renting and performing at the Phipps Theatre.  Springtime means time for the arts;  our Fine Arts concert features all of our performance groups and classroom music.  
       Mrs. Forester and I also help in leading the music at school mass each Friday.   Feel free to join us!    

In my spare time at home I enjoy teaching piano lessons, doing theatre work at the Phipps, sometimes with my husband, Paul.  We have 5 grown children and have welcomed our first Grandson into our arms!   I also enjoy playing the historic Jardine organ at First Baptist Church and accompany the choir.
